Mormonism Is To Christianity As “SunnyD” Is To Orange Juice

If you think about it; accepting the Mormon religion as one of the viable doctrines found beneath the broad umbrella of Christian theology – is like believing that a tall, cold glass of “Sunny Delight” breakfast drink comes directly from the Florida orange groves.  However though; in both cases, it should be understood that one is a gift from God while the other is a fabricated concoction – created by man.

At first glance while sitting next to one another, the two beverages appear to be equals.  Both have a sun-like orange glow.  Both have a viscosity greater than water.  And both have a sweet citrus flavor.  But if you look beyond the surface and conduct a closer examination of the actual properties of the two drinks; an obvious difference is apparent.

The only ingredient found in pure orange juice is the golden liquid derived by squeezing a ripened orange.  The liquid is formed inside the fruit over the course of the growing season.  As the fruit matures, the juice becomes sweeter and more favorable to the taste.   The roots of orange tree draw nutrients and moisture from the soil; while the leaves absorb energy from the sun.  And as man attempts to manipulate the quality and volume of the juice produced by the tree, God is still the Creator.  It is through His divine design that the tree is genetically structured to produce a flavorful fruit which in turn yields a satisfyingly,  natural juice.

On the other hand, while Proctor & Gamble declares  “Make Today a Sunny Day! SunnyD was reverse-engineered from the sun.” on the Sunny D website.   They recant the claim in the next sentence – “Okay, that’s technically not true. But it does taste great…”    “Sunny D” is formed from the bowels of a great mixing vat.  Man adds the ingredients  “Water, High Fructose, Corn Syrup and 2% or Less of Each of the Following: Concentrated Juices (Orange, Tangerine, Apple, Lime, Grapefruit). Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Beta-Carotene, Thiamin Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Natural Flavors, Food Starch-Modified, Canola Oil, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Sodium Benzoate To Protect Flavor, Yellow #5, Yellow #6”.  And in the growing time of a couple of hours, the freshly cooked beverage is loaded and shipped to consumers around the globe.  In general, water, sweeteners, vitamins, artificial flavoring, and thickening agents are blended together and cooked, then passed off as the equal to orange juice.

Leaders of the Mormon faith yearn for the  secular world and the Christian community to acknowledge that Mormonism falls within the realm of traditional Christian doctrine.  However, their beliefs are not rooted in the Word of God (Holy Bible).  They do not derive their understanding of the Scripture through the Holy Spirit.  The recipe (foundation) for their doctrine is drawn primarily from the Book of Mormon – based on messages delievered from the Angel of Darkness.  Then just a sprinkling of the Holy Scripture is added to the mixture so the ignorant  can be deceived.

Foolish men and little children love the sweetest of drinks.  But a wise man recognizes the fruit of the tree, savors its bounty, and knows its blessing.  And most inportantly, knows to turn away from an imitation when it’s placed in front of  him.
