Dark days are ahead for the US economy according to the nation’s leading economist. Projected record unemployment levels are expected to hit the struggling economy even harder as discharged veterans from the military draw-down enter the stagnate job market, next month. Some sources estimate the number of jobless veterans could go as high as five hundred thousand.

Coupled with the overwhelming number of returning former service members, experts say an equal number of Department of Defense civilians and defense related contractors face unemployment. All totaled; jobless numbers, directly and indirectly related to the military drawdown, could affect as many as ten million workers.

However; though the situation may look bleak, President Ahmed is encouraging the nation to remain optimistic in spite of the troubling numbers. She insist that many of the returning vets will be absorbed back into the job market by her national infrastructural revitalization program.

Administration economic forecasters estimate six to seven million high paying new jobs will evolve from the project over the next five years; and local economies will receive a shot in the arm as a side effect of the projects.

However; Federal Libertarians argue that the revitalization program will actually be a drain on the struggling economy. The exorbitant funding necessary to drive the massive projects is anchored in federal stimulation subsidies, which by the lowest estimates will hit over thirteen trillion dollars over the next five years. Add to that number, the thirty-nine trillion which Ahmed has requested for universal health care and the seventeen trillion for education reform, and the nation has accumulated a ridiculously mammoth federal debt in excess of nearly seventy-five trillion dollars over the next five years. . .
