Rosh Hashanah–Festival of Trumpets

Reposted Annually: Around the world, today at sundown; the Jewish holiday – Rosh Hashanah – will commence.  You ask as a Christian, “Why do I care?”  Well there are several reasons why today’s Christian should have an interest in the Festival of Trumpets – but first, some background information.

Rosh Hashanah is the fifth in a succession of seven holidays sanctioned by God in the Holy Scriptures.  God commanded annual celebrations by the Jewish people in recognition of these events.  All seven events hold significance the Christian church and Biblical prophesy.  These holidays are broken into two distinct groupings – Spring and Fall.  The Spring grouping consist of the first four celebrations: Passover, Festival of Unleavened Bread, Festival of First Fruits, and Festival of Weeks (Pentecost).  All Biblical prophecy pertaining to the Spring events has been fulfilled with the Crucifixion, Burial, Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit’s arrival in Jerusalem for the birth of the Church at Pentecost.  These holidays were fulfilled in chorological order according to their time of celebration.

So with the fulfillment of Holy Scripture through the springtime feast, we look ahead to the Fall celebrations and the next scheduled holiday, along with the next prophesied event– the Festival of Trumpets and the Rapture of the Church.  The festival’s tradition and the description of events pertaining to coming Rapture seem to mesh together beautifully.  In an instant, the Trumpet will sound and God will call the believers – first the dead, then the living – to meet with Christ in the air.  The Church will then be ushered before the Heavenly court and presented before the Father as the virgin Bride of Christ.  In Heaven, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb will commence with His Church – and on earth the wrath of God will be poured out on the unbeliever with the Great Tribulation.
