Why Mormonism is Sunny D – not Fresh Squeezed?

If you think about it; why is Mormonism like Sunny D, and not fresh squeezed orange juice?   A simple answer for this question is found within the Holy Scripture at Galatians 1:5-24.  Paul states clearly, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

However; defenders of the Mormon faith would argue that Mormonism is not Paul’s “other gospel” – but rather, one of the many acceptable branches which have sprung up over the centuries from the original gospel.  Mormons profess that their faith is anchored in the same Holy Scripture as the Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, or other sanctioned Christian denominations.  And much of the Mormon doctrine is linked back to Old and New Testament scripture references.  On the surface; they claim Christ as Lord and Savior, believe in His Death and Resurrection, Forgiveness of Sin, and many more of the basic principle of the Gospel.  Therefore; it is difficult for the average Christian to argue against the Mormon’s claim to Christianity.

Which brings us back to our Sunny D/fresh squeezed orange juice comparison.  It’s hard to argue that Sunny D is not real orange juice when comparing the ingredients of both beverages.  The Sunny D apologist will argue that Sunny Delight contains orange juice – so therefore; it is a form of orange juice.   With this argument, the average Christian falls into a sadistic trap.  The more they chase their own tail through this concocted line of reasoning, the wearier the believer grows while defending the Christian faith.  Finally; the embattled believer gives up by either accepting the Mormon claim as fact, decides that the Mormon’s claim doesn’t really matter, or feels defeated and embarrassed that as a Believer that they can not break from the entangled web spun by the Mormon’s argument.

To show Mormonism is not a form of Christianity, you have to forget the comparisons.  You have to isolate Mormonism from Christianity!   You have to go to the root of the Mormon tree.   Just as with the bottle of Sunny D, you have to zero in on Sunny D’s own ingredients label – and forget about orange juice for the moment.  By focusing in on each ingredient, defining what it is, what is the item’s purpose, and then removing the item from the list?    When you eventually work your way down to the final ingredient, what do you find – only that tiny bit of orange juice which the Sunny D apologist wanted to spin you around in?  There’s nothing else in the jug which can link him to his claim.  And without that bit of orange juice, it is oblivious that  the jug contains only thickened artificially flavored sugar water.

So in your fight, don’t give them a chance to attach themselves to your Christian faith.  Isolate them and expose them for what they are – the other gospel condemned by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 1.
